Our Office

As the founder and principal of the law firm, Shadawn N. Deas is a skilled and aggressive advocate in litigation with a demonstrated history in family, criminal, personal injury, and real estate law.  She has worked extensively in matters involving divorce, alimony, child custody, parenting time, modification child and spousal support, and equitable distribution of marital property and debt.  She is passionate about cases involving children; knowing that the process of separation and divorce can be very difficult for them.  With her background in mediation, she is creative in developing effective custody arrangements and putting the financial well-being of children at the top of the priority list.

Some of her criminal legal experiences included her time with the Office of the State’s Attorney (Montgomery County) and the Office of the Public Defender (Prince George’s County).  During that time, she handled District Court cases, such as assaults, traffic violations, drug offenses, and thefts, including factual investigation. She has experienced several judicial hearings (domestic, criminal, and juvenile), trials and training seminars.  In addition, she interviewed victims and witnesses, conducted legal research, negotiated plea offers, conducted client interviews at the prison, reviewed evidence, and prepared motions and memos all in which were at times in the representation of indigent clients.

Ms. Deas has demonstrated a history of working in the real estate industry, including a licensed Maryland Realtor and a Title Insurance Producer Independent Contractor (Closing Officer).  She is skilled in strategic planning and execution, compliance, employee training and development, lease administration, capital project management, budget preparation, contract negotiation, residential homes, and property management.

As a volunteer, Ms. Deas is committed to representing many Maryland low income or indigent persons with their criminal initial appearances with the Commissioners, in addition to assisting local charitable organizations in handling all aspects of family law disputes, including alimony, custody, access, child support and comprehensive Marital Settlement Agreements in divorces, as well as settlements involving suits for modifications of support, custody or visitation.

In her free time, Ms. Deas enjoys time with family and friends, mentoring, in addition to traveling.

Ms. Deas earned her J.D. from the University of Baltimore School of Law and her B.S. from Bowie State University.  She is admitted to the Maryland bar, and is a member of the American Bar Association, Maryland State Bar Association and the Prince George’s County and Anne Arundel County Bar Associations.

Her philosophy is to guide clients through their matters in the most practical and efficient way possible.   She is committed to finding innovative solutions and exploring every avenue to resolve cases in her clients’ best interests and minimize consequences.
